The Company

A large integrated energy company in the U.S. with 35,800 employees worldwide, operating in 40 countries, with over $100 Billion in annual revenue.  Vantage was hired to offer programming after a recent merger.

The Challenge

The organization had a culture of conflict avoidance in communication that was negatively impacting the company in various ways, including ineffective management of teams, low productivity, and undesirable time-to-market speed. They were also facing the challenge of a merger that required employees to forge new collegial relationships and merge cultures and operations. The company was seeking to implement a comprehensive development curriculum with interpersonal communication as an integral element. The goal was to create a more collaborative culture that would help close the gap between results desired and results delivered.

Vantage’s Solution

Vantage worked with the company's Corporate University to tailor the Difficult Conversations™:  Communicating for Results workshop so that there would be synergy and consistency with their other professional development offerings.  Vantage designed a highly experiential, learner-oriented workshop that was rolled out to Corporate and regionally across the United States.

Results

As a result of the training, employees were better able to manage their cross-functional teams resulting in increased productivity and improved speed to market. The course enabled people to raise, discuss and resolve the really tough issues that are embedded in any major organizational change initiative.
